My Final Winter Break (Journal #1)

With the end of the semester finally past us and the holidays in full swing, I’d like to take this time to congratulate my peers. Congratulations to everyone for completing yet another semester and making it to winter break. Whether you are a freshman or senior, maintaining a good academic standard in the world today is no easy feat. We have finally made it to winter break.

Top 3 Tips for a Successful College Career

Here is some advice I was given before coming to college, as well as when I made my way to WashU. I hope these tips can help you like they helped me.

Finally: A Letter to Senior Year

I feel like I’m living in the future even writing this. It feels like it was yesterday that I was applying for colleges aimlessly, worried about what would become of me after high school, and unsure of what the next steps were.

Summers in University (A Reflection and Guide)

The first summer break after my first year of college was one of the most shell-shocking seasons of my academic career. Some of my classmates were already doing internships while others pursed jobs. I, on the other hand, just used my summer break as a break! Is there a correct way to spend the summers […]

Little Lessons from Undergrad, Part I

I came into my undergraduate career bright-eyed, bushy tailed, and with no idea what to expect. I was full of hope and even some expectations. Even though college isn’t wilding different than what I originally imagined, I’ve learned and experienced many new things. These new things were a mixture of good moments, bad moments, and even some that fall on neither side. In this article, I will be sharing little lessons I’ve learned over the course of my undergrad years.

All on My Own

So, you’ve made it. Congratulations! Even though there is still a good two months before the fall semester, as an incoming freshman, that first semester of your college journey is probably all you can think about right now (that’s all I did summer 2019 c:). For some, this is the first time you will be away from home for a long period of time, something that seems daunting. For others, this distance from home is something that you have been longing for. Whatever the case may be, it is important to create your own home while in college.

It’s Major Declaration Day!

Today, February 22nd, 2021, is scary, exciting, troubling, and stressful for a lot of us sophomores. Today, we officially declare our majors. And although the action is as simple as clicking a couple buttons on WebSTAC, it is a day where many of us have to sit down and think about our futures. Some people […]

Best Nap Locations on Campus

Upon entering college, students are quick to learn how to utilize break times. Some students spend down time studying or time budgeting. However, others like myself take the time to breathe and recharge. My preferred form of recharge is taking naps!

SFS is Coming to YOU? As prospective students, many ask questions concerning the financial aspects of college. Parents and students all around the world wonder “Can I afford college now?”. 5 Things I Learned 1st Semester| WashU 360

Hey guys, I am finally done with my first semester and learned so much about life at WashU! Here’s my 5 things I learned 1st semester!

What I Learned During My First Semester

It has officially been a week into my second semester of college. Over winter break, I had some time to reflect on my first semester at WashU, so here are three things I learned during my first semester of college! Time management is key to getting things done. I know it’s been said by everyone […]

Snack Time! First steps into the Anthropology of Food

Last semester, I found something I loved in the readings and lectures of my Introduction to Cultural Anthropology class. This year, I am diving deeper into Anthropology with an upper-level seminar: The Anthropology of Food.

Study Abroad Adventures

This past spring, I studied abroad in Argentina through SIT’s Argentina: Social Movements and Human Rights Programs. It’s difficult to condense an entire semester into a few paragraphs, but I’ll try. To begin with, I was so nervous before I left. I dreaded getting on the plane because I was unsure of my Spanish skills […]

Looking back: Lessons from my first year

My first year at WashU taught me so much, both academically and otherwise. Here’s some helpful tips I picked up along the way!

‘Summer days, slipping away’: My summer internships!

As I enjoy the last few days of my internships, I can’t believe how fast the time went by. I had a wonderful summer working for the Communications department at the Office of Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer as well as writing for a group of local newspapers. Here’s a bit more about what I worked on this summer!

Countless cover letters: Applying for summer internships

Yes, it is true that you will receive far more nos than yesses. I definitely did. But what people don’t tell you is that the most common response you will receive will be absolute silence. Even after follow up emails, the large majority of places I contacted never responded to me. For a while it felt like I was shouting into the void, and every day I lost a little bit of hope of ever getting that miraculous “yes.” And then I did.

Don’t Be Afraid to Go UP

As a first-generation college student, most of what I know about applying to, attending, and surviving at university is through my own collective experiences. Needless to say…it has been a tremendously bumpy road.

Fierce as the Freezing Snow

Don’t get me wrong, the snow is really beautiful…I just have a few qualms.
