Summers in University (A Reflection and Guide)

The first summer break after my first year of college was one of the most shell-shocking seasons of my academic career. Some of my classmates were already doing internships while others pursed jobs. I, on the other hand, just used my summer break as a break! Is there a correct way to spend the summers […]

Little Lessons from Undergrad, Part I

I came into my undergraduate career bright-eyed, bushy tailed, and with no idea what to expect. I was full of hope and even some expectations. Even though college isn’t wilding different than what I originally imagined, I’ve learned and experienced many new things. These new things were a mixture of good moments, bad moments, and even some that fall on neither side. In this article, I will be sharing little lessons I’ve learned over the course of my undergrad years.

All on My Own

So, you’ve made it. Congratulations! Even though there is still a good two months before the fall semester, as an incoming freshman, that first semester of your college journey is probably all you can think about right now (that’s all I did summer 2019 c:). For some, this is the first time you will be away from home for a long period of time, something that seems daunting. For others, this distance from home is something that you have been longing for. Whatever the case may be, it is important to create your own home while in college.

Best Nap Locations on Campus

Upon entering college, students are quick to learn how to utilize break times. Some students spend down time studying or time budgeting. However, others like myself take the time to breathe and recharge. My preferred form of recharge is taking naps!

How I Fell in Love with Wash U

Hi again! I decided since I’m still new to WashU360 and there’s much you don’t know about me, it’d be helpful to share some of my story with you. As most of the audience reading this blog is incoming freshman and parents, I decided to tell you about how I discovered Wash U and why […]

What I Learned During My First Semester

It has officially been a week into my second semester of college. Over winter break, I had some time to reflect on my first semester at WashU, so here are three things I learned during my first semester of college! Time management is key to getting things done. I know it’s been said by everyone […]

Looking back: Lessons from my first year

My first year at WashU taught me so much, both academically and otherwise. Here’s some helpful tips I picked up along the way!

‘Summer days, slipping away’: My summer internships!

As I enjoy the last few days of my internships, I can’t believe how fast the time went by. I had a wonderful summer working for the Communications department at the Office of Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer as well as writing for a group of local newspapers. Here’s a bit more about what I worked on this summer!

Friends, food, and fun: Memories from my first year

Over a month after finishing my first year at WashU, I still can’t believe it’s over. On one hand, it went by insanely fast. Sometimes I feel like I’m still about to go to college, rather than actually being in it. On the other hand, so much has happened since August of last year. I’ve learned so much about myself and made connections with people whom I can’t imagine not knowing. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that so much has changed in just a year.

Extra! Extra!: Writing for Student Life Newspaper

Our newspaper is called Student Life and has been printing since 1878, making it the oldest independent college newspaper west of the Mississippi River! I knew I wanted to get involved with Student Life when I got to campus in August, but I wasn’t sure to what extent. To my surprise, all I needed to do was add myself to the email list, which I did at Student Life’s booth at the Fall Activities Fair.

Fun Dorm Activities: Baking!

When I first visited WashU, my favorite thing about the 40 was, and continues to be, the community I’ve found there. There’s so much to do, whether it’s running to Bear’s Den to grab a meal and staying for hours talking with friends, buying candy at the student owned and run Bear-y Sweet Shop, or having a karaoke night with my floormates in the common room. This semester, one of my favorite features of residential life has been the kitchens in my dorm building.

My Scholarship Programs at WashU!

When I traveled to campus this time last year for Scholars Weekend, I thought that the merit scholarships I would be interviewed for were monetary awards and nothing else. However, as the weekend went by, I quickly realized that the program would be so much more than that. With Scholars Weekend fast approaching, here’s a look into my experience with my scholarships for those who might be about to arrive on campus as scholarship finalists!

My Favorite Places to Hang Out on Campus!

One of my favorite things about WashU is that there are so many locations on campus designed to foster collaboration and interaction. No matter where I am on campus, I’m always close to a great place to sit down with a friend and chat, do homework, or share a meal. Here are some of my favorite places to hang out at WashU!

Explore STL! Ways To Get Off Campus

With so much happening on campus, it can be hard to make time to step out of the WashU bubble. But it’s worth it. Whether you come from a big city or tiny, remote town, St. Louis has everything you could want. Here are some fun ways I’ve gotten off-campus this year.

Getting Involved: Extracurriculars at WashU

Extracurriculars can be the most fun and meaningful part of college life. Here’s a little about what I do to get involved.

Tangled up in a New World

Leaving the long stretch of grass, trees, corn fields, and lakes that is Louisiana was one of the hardest and also most exhilarating moments of my life. Saying goodbye to family, friends, childhood homes, and welcoming in new experiences and opportunities with open arms. This is where all those days watching from the window got […]

Modern Issues, Historical Relations – A Day in Japan with GCP

Last year, my class went to Japan over Spring Break as part of my freshman FOCUS program, the Global Citizenship Program. Come along as I look back on the experience!

A Guide to Cozy, but Efficient, Studying

Branch out a little bit and I promise studying can be its own kind of adventure!
