What I’ll Miss About WashU
What better way to celebrate my last day as a Wash U student than to write about the things I’ll miss about Wash U (full disclosure: I’m writing this through tears).
Travel the World at WashU
Here at WashU, there are a multitude of cultural events to take part in and to see! The events range from performances at the Edison Theater, to various film festivals showcasing films from different regions of the world, to the possibility of joining over 100 diversity groups.
From One Bear to (Hopefully) Another
Perhaps the question I hear most often—and always the one I dread answering the most—from prospective students is “Why did you choose WashU?” My apprehension has nothing to do with my inability to answer the question at all; instead, it has everything to do with my confidence in my ability to encapsulate everything that I […]
Dual-Degree Engineering Students Can Have Fun Too!
Some would say one of the worst times during college is the week of final exams. I would be the one to say it is actually THE worst time during the semester. The whole idea behind cramming a semester’s worth of material for 5 different classes in one week, all to pass an exam that’s […]
A Definitive Ranking of St Louis Pizza Places by Someone Who is Kind of From St Louis
As a budding social worker on an accelerated graduation track, I take all opportunities I can to delve into conflicts throughout my community. St Louisans are nothing if not extremely opinionated and as someone who lived here for almost four full summers while she was attending boarding school on the East Coast, I consider myself […]
Garden Glow!
My favorite time of the year most definitely has to be in between Thanksgiving and New years. This may be a common thing a lot of people say, however I don’t mind agreeing! I love this time of the year so much because of all the joy and happiness that is spread from one another. […]
First snow of the season at WashU!
I am constantly reminded of how beautiful this campus is, and never is it more picturesque than after that first snowfall, when the old buildings stand atop a glistening white carpet.
Meet the Leaders
Recently, I had the opportunity to listen to Wash U alumnus Pushkar Sharma speak about his job at the UN and his career path from Wash U to the UN. This event was part of a series of events at the Gephardt Institute Office, an office at Wash U that helps students get involved in civic life in St. Louis.
Showing Up: A Guide to WashU Audition Week
Unsurprisingly for many of us, WashU has a decent number of students on campus that were considered “Theater Kids” in high school; the awkward kids who belted out the Wicked soundtrack in their bedrooms or cried themselves to sleep listening the Hamilton circa 2017. These are the real nitty gritty salt of the Earth theater […]
Extra! Extra!: Writing for Student Life Newspaper
Our newspaper is called Student Life and has been printing since 1878, making it the oldest independent college newspaper west of the Mississippi River! I knew I wanted to get involved with Student Life when I got to campus in August, but I wasn’t sure to what extent. To my surprise, all I needed to do was add myself to the email list, which I did at Student Life’s booth at the Fall Activities Fair.
Fun Dorm Activities: Baking!
When I first visited WashU, my favorite thing about the 40 was, and continues to be, the community I’ve found there. There’s so much to do, whether it’s running to Bear’s Den to grab a meal and staying for hours talking with friends, buying candy at the student owned and run Bear-y Sweet Shop, or having a karaoke night with my floormates in the common room. This semester, one of my favorite features of residential life has been the kitchens in my dorm building.
My Scholarship Programs at WashU!
When I traveled to campus this time last year for Scholars Weekend, I thought that the merit scholarships I would be interviewed for were monetary awards and nothing else. However, as the weekend went by, I quickly realized that the program would be so much more than that. With Scholars Weekend fast approaching, here’s a look into my experience with my scholarships for those who might be about to arrive on campus as scholarship finalists!
