UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS at WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY in ST. LOUIS

The Greatest Showcase

Almost exactly a year ago, I walked away from the annual PL4Y Showcase with woven feelings of awe, wistfulness, admiration, and the lingering question of “What if …?”

This event is what spiraled me down into the ever-so-adventurous rabbit-hole of dance. Needless to say, it was a breathtaking experience last year, and just as breathtaking this semester … except, maybe in a slightly different sense of the word.

Performing within the Showcase is a completely novel way of experiencing the event. It’s also much different from SoK — the spring semester version of the dance showcase — which is located outside, and on a stage (which was my first experience in dance — and something you can read about in my blogs from last semester!). PL4Y Showcase is located in Tisch Commons within the DUC, and viewers practically blanket the two floors of the DUC to watch the 2-hour long show.

I’ve said it before, but this is undoubtedly the best part of the Showcase: that so many different people from all different backgrounds are coming together to celebrate the culture of Korean song, dance, and performing arts in general. This not only includes the performers, but also the many, many people who came to watch. Musical performance, I believe, is a universal art form that truly speaks to all hearts.

BTS – Mic Drop/Idol: lots and lots of aerobic exercise, to be honest :,)

NCT – Baby Don’t Stop/Black on Black: from chic to angsty 🙂

Even the PL4Y Exec Board did their own dance performance! <3

This semester, I honed my dance skills, met new, amazingly talented people who became my mini-families for the past few months, and accomplished a goal that I never thought I would have had the guts or skills for. It’s amazing to see just how inspirational one event from a year has been on my life, and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Here’s a silly picture of the NCT team for good pleasure 🙂
