When I first arrive on campus in August of 2016, Olin Library was already undergoing construction. Although I saw the complete project sketches, I had no idea what the new spaces would be like since I wasn’t around to see the old Whispers Cafe. When I came back to campus in January of 2018, the transformation was finally finished and I was able to take full advantage of the space.
The new Whispers Cafe has been an absolute godsend. Being able to grab food right where you study is so handy and allows me to stay in work mode. I discovered the Newman Exploration Center during the spring finals and it quickly became one of my favorite places to study due to the unique styling and calming atmosphere. I have yet to spend time at Risa’s Landing or the Sky Room, but I know that I have two entire years left to explore those spaces.
For incoming students, the task of finding the best place to study can be daunting. There are so many new places on WashU’s campus and it can be easy to get stuck in the first location you find. If you are interested in exploring the new areas of the Olin Library, here is a quiz to help you figure out the best place for you.
