WashU’s CRETE House debuts at Solar Decathlon

Washington University students are constantly looking for ways to improve the world. A group of students from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and the School of Engineering & Applied Science is currently tackling global warming.

For the past two years, more than 100 students have worked with industry partners to design, fabricate, and construct CRETE House. They debuted their structure – a net-zero energy house – to the 2017 Solar Decathlon this month, tying for second place in the architecture contest and placing 10th overall. The competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
